New board also includes two prior GTA TeleGuam directors, four new
appointments
TAMUNING, Guam--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Two Guam business executives have been retained to serve on the board of
directors of GTA TeleGuam after the company’s successful ownership
transfer. A third original GTA TeleGuam board member and four new
representatives from the new owner were also was named to the board, the
company announced Wednesday.
Peter Gill, founder and owner of KwikSPACE Guam Inc., and Lourdes Leon
Guerrero, president, CEO and chairwoman of Bank of Guam, will continue
serving on the GTA TeleGuam board as independent directors. Also named
to stay on as a board member is retired U.S. Navy Admiral Thomas Fargo,
chairman of Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII), America’s largest
military shipbuilder.
All three along with Dan Moffat, president and CEO of GTA TeleGuam, had
been on the GTA TeleGuam board of directors before the company’s
ownership transfer to funds served by Advantage
Partners LLP, (AP Funds), the largest private equity firm in Japan.
Moffat will retain his seat on the GTA TeleGuam board of directors. He
stepped down as president and CEO of GTA TeleGuam effective Sept. 12 to
focus on dealing with family health issues stateside.

guidance for balancing the interests of all GTA TeleGuam stakeholders

competitive environment under new ownership.”
After the ownership transfer last month, GTA TeleGuam also appointed
four representatives from Advantage Partners (AP) to serve on its new
board of directors. They are: Richard Folsom, representative partner and
co-founder; Atsushi Akaike, partner; Emmett Thomas, partner and head of
Asia for AP, and Ichiro Otobe, principal. Folsom, Akaike and Otobe are
based in Tokyo. Thomas is based in Hong Kong.
Collectively, the four representative board members from Advantage
Partners bring extensive knowledge and experience in corporate strategy
building, business unit strategy and business development in various
industries as well as foreign and domestic corporations.
Local board member Gill grew up in Guam, attended Saint Francis School
in Yona and is a 1976 graduate of Father Duenas Memorial School. He
earned his bachelor’s degree in 1981 at Marquette University in
Milwaukee, Wisc.
In addition to operating KwikSPACE, Gill is chairman of the board for
the Guam Department of Labor and treasurer of the Saint John's School
board of trustees. He also previously served on the Guam Land Use
Commission. He and his VA Hospital chief psychiatrist wife, Joan, have
two children and reside in Piti.
Leon Guerrero was born and raised on Guam. She graduated from Academy of
Our Lady of Guam, earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from California
State University in Los Angeles, a master’s degree in public health from
UCLA, and graduated from the Pacific Coast Banking School out of
University of Washington. Leon Guerrero is a five-term former Guam
senator. She and her attorney husband, Jeff Cook, have two children and
reside in Tamuning.
Admiral Fargo was the twentieth officer to hold the position of
Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command. As the senior U.S. military
commander in East Asia, the Pacific and Indian Ocean areas, he held the
largest unified command while directing the joint operations of the
Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force.
In addition to his seat on GTA TeleGuam board of directors, Admiral
Fargo also serves on the boards of directors for Hawaiian Electric
Industries (NYSE: HE) and United States Automobile Association.
Admiral Fargo was born in San Diego and graduated from the United States
Naval Academy in 1970. He and his wife Sarah reside in Honolulu.
GTA TeleGuam completed its ownership change last June 10.
