What is Hale Kipa?

Hale Kipa is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to helping families with youths between the age of 12 and 17. It provides a "cooling off" period for youths and their families with the goal of reunification if at all possible. Professional counseling is provided and program structure is geared to help individuals take responsibility for their behavior.

How can Hale Kipa help me?

Hale Kipa offers:

Preventive Services - To help youths and their parents cope with their stresses before a runaway crisis occurs.

Emergency Shelter - For youths in runaway or other crises. The program is geared to help youths and their families work out their problems and to keep the family unit intact.

Support Services - To provide shelter and emotional support for those youths who are awaiting placement in a setting other than their own homes.

How do I get to Hale Kipa?

Hale Kipa's intake center is at 2006 McKinley Street (in Manoa). To get to the house, take the No. 5 Bus to Lanihuli Drive and walk down to McKinley Street. Turn right on McKinley Street. The house is on the right hand side.

How long can I stay?

Emergency shelter services are available for up to 30 days. Unless referred by Child Protective Services, parental consent is necessary.

How much does it cost?

Services are provided free of charge.
